Teacher training with Ana

Why do teacher training?

Coming into our fourth year of the 200hr Ashtanga Teacher Training we have seen over 30 people transform into beautiful teachers all individual and unique.

Every one of those 30 had different reasons for doing it.

One thing is for sure, if at the start they were doing teacher training for their own practice and development, which in itself is a great reason to do one, by the end they could not wait to start teaching and sharing everything they have learnt.

So yes this teacher training is great if you do want to spend an intensive 3 weeks working on your practice and understanding of Yoga, but it is also going to equip you with all the tools you need to hold a great class, safely and creatively.

I see a a 200hr teacher training as a driving test. You are taught to drive the car safely, within the guidelines of the law and etiquette. Once you have passed, you develop your own style of driving.

In the same way, once you are teacher trained you are free to explore, experiment and grow.

The 200hr will also allow you to book onto other training taking you into your chosen direction like Kids Yoga, Yoga Therapy, etc.

Who is teacher training for?

Do you need to be able to handstand and do crazy arm balances? Do you need to be able to meditate for 5 hours straight?

No of course not, that’s not the goal. It is the side affect, but the goal is to have no goal…

To be happy with everything as it is, I always say you don’t sit and watch the seed grow into a beautiful flower, you water it, give it light, and the rest happens naturally.

As a teacher, if you have unrealistic expectations of yourself or create a image that isn’t really you it’s impossible to maintain. We are all on a journey, it sounds cliched to say it, but the journey is the fun bit, otherwise what is left?

Thinking of doing your teacher training?

The only question you need to ask yourself is are you ready to be open and to confront, accept and welcome all the discoveries you will learn about yourself? To take all your learnings on board and use them to live a Yogic life on and off the mat?

Are you ready to dedicate to the practice of Yoga be it 1 hour a day or 5 mins a day so when you teach, it comes from an authentic place?

Are you ready to work hard and let go of excuses?

If yes, then keep an eye out for upcoming training, you really won’t regret it.
